DRINKING + DONATING = Let the Good Times Roll

So I've found the PERFECT break from studying and/or a great way to start the last work week before the holiday for all you crazy kids... I mean... mature adults of legal drinking age.

Next Monday Dec 19 from 5-9, the REEF Restaurant and bar is holding a HAPPY HOUR HOLIDAY BENEFIT for For Love of Children (My amazing organization just in case you were wondering: www.flocdc.org ). 10% of the sales from the night will be donated to FLOC and it would be great if everyone came out for it!

There will also be a RAFFLE with give away items that include everything: horse back riding lessons, cd's, yoga classes, a raft trip, maggie moo's gift certificates, a kayaking lesson and $100 gift certificates for dinner and drinks at THE REEF!

Raffle tickets are only $2 and you can buy a lot of 12 tickets for $10

Let me know if you can make it and Invite all your friends!!!

Be there or be a holiday Scrooge...

Maya Angelou's poem "Phenomenal Woman":

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies

I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size

But when I start to tell them

They think I'm telling lies.

I say

It's in the reach of my arms

The span of my hips

The stride of my steps

The curl of my lips.

I'm a woman

Phenomenally

Phenomenal woman . . .

rain rain go away

Apparently the sun is an ephemeral being in paris in the winter. it's been nothing but rain rain rain... and more rain... and then the sun comes out and i become happy and optimistic, because how could it possibly rain MORE? And the tricky clouds gather together to laugh at me so hard that they cry... big fat saltless tears of rain.

But I'm just venting 'cause my jeans are still wet. I'm really having a great time here so far. I'm apartment hunting and having seen anythin i like so far, but have a couple of appointments lined up that I'm looking forward to. The food here is fantastic... I can get really good food for not tha expensive compared to the US. I got a half-baguette sandwich yesterday for under 4 euros. (That's like a footlong at subway except much better). And considering how low the dollar is... but let me not think about that.

Everyone on my program in awesome. They're all nice adn want to meet people and I've already made a few good friends and lots of acquaitances. I've acquired myself a cell phone starting tomorrow which will be nice and Two of the guys who are staying from first semester are throwing a big party Friday that everyone's invited to including all their international friends. This morning we got a guided overview tour of the Muse'e d'orsay which was really nice and I want to go back to really see more of the paintings... as welll as so much else of Paris. It was fun seeing most of the paintings though that were part of the Corcoran's beyond the frame exhibit for those of you who knows what I'm talking about. They have one of the best impressionist collections. Now it's time to go get dinner... Seriously give me your addresses because I don't have anyone at CP's school or home address!!!

love,
Laura
